Welcome

Take an historical tour of the Keweenaw while visiting the Houghton or Calumet area.

The Red Jacket Trolley takes its name from an historic mining location within what is now the village of Calumet in Michigan's Copper Country. An historical tour of the Keweenaw with the trolley will take you behind the scenes at places you won't find on your own or with other tours. Your guide is a professional historian; he is also a local.

We will visit multiple historical sites of the Keweenaw to reveal the big picture and answer the "so what?" questions. In an active learning experience like no other, dig beyond names and dates and figures to uncover the significance of the Keweenaw Peninsula. Through the Copper Country's history and the Keweenaw's landscape, you will come to see what it is that makes this area and its people so different from any other place.

And, oh yeah—the bus is really cool.
